Week of Prayer 2025

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 18th-25th January

This is an important opportunity to celebrate and pray for a deepening of the unity that Christ has given us.

Midday prayers were held each weekday at 12noon. This year we are returning to holding them in the churches instead of online, as follows:

Monday 20th January – Baptist Church
Tuesday 21st January – St John’s Church
Wednesday 22nd January – St Mary’s, Kidlington
Thursday 23rd January – St Thomas More Church
Friday 24th January – Methodist Church

Fellowship meal, Tuesday 21st January, 7pm, Kidlington Baptist Church

The Fellowship meal this year was held on Tuesday 21st January. It was a bring and share, but tickets were sold for £1 each. The speaker was Fiona Kelling, who worked in Gaza and the West Bank from 2015-2017 on the humanitarian response and reconstruction after the hostilities in 2014. She and her husband Joel became mission partners with CMS in 2018 and moved to Jordan, where they were living until July 2024. She has continued some work in the humanitarian space, more on the research side – and since October 2023 have been providing remote support to her colleagues and the beleaguered response in Palestine. While in Jordan Fiona became a trustee to a Christian charity called Mosaic Middle East. They work with local partners in Iraq and Jordan, to support refugees and displaced people, particularly from minority communities. They have also recently begun to support the small Christian community in Gaza. Proceeds from the ticket sales and the donations made on the night will go to that charity.
